A Fun 4th of July
Plus, the C-Span video from the Southern Festival of Books
“Find the good and praise it.”
Hello again!
I hope you’ve had a great week so far, and are managing to stay cool this summer! 😎
I promised I would let you know when my Southern Festival of Books panel discussion was available on C-Span, and this week I discovered that it is now on their website for public viewing! I’ve included the link below.
You’ll also find some fun ideas for cool activities this July 4, in the “More Good News” section below. What will you be doing this 4th of July? Reply to this email and let me know!
There will be no issue of this newsletter next week, but we will resume the second week of July. Best wishes to you for a safe and happy Independence Day!
Cheers,
Yasmine

What I’m Feeling Good About
I was finally notified that my 2023 Southern Festival of Books appearance is now on C-Span! You can watch the full panel discussion here: https://www.c-span.org/video/?531273-7/author-discussion-hidden-histories-tennessee-towns
You may recall my mentioning this panel appearance last October:
I was so thankful to Frank Craver, whose story is a major part of the book, for being there in person!

To be notified of the Kickstarter launch for my next book, The View from the Cliffs, click this link or copy and paste it into your browser: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/yasmineali/the-view-from-the-cliffs-a-novel/
(Every person who signs up to follow my Kickstarter helps my book campaign rise in the rankings, and then Kickstarter will show it to more people, expanding outreach! And there is no obligation to buy—you can just sign up to be notified.)
What You’re Feeling Good About
One Positive Vibes member wrote in about last week’s riddle (“What question can you never truthfully answer ‘yes’ to?”) : “I guessed the answer to the riddle was "Are you dead?" which technically also could be true. 😂 “
My response: “Ha, ha! That is true; never thought of that. But since that is a bit morbid and this is POSITIVE VIBES, we'll stick with ‘Are you asleep?’ as the correct answer.” 😉
Another Positive Vibes member, Anissa, wrote in response to last week’s issue:
This email was ironically hitting exactly the points I have been sharing with my clients.
I told some of them that I recently joined an older ladies water aerobics group, not necessarily for the exercise but more for the social interactions. I love laughing and hanging out in a comfortable atmosphere with no judgment.
I agree that it is tremendously important for a healthy lifestyle to implement some types of social interaction. I’ve always been a socially outgoing person (I think) and I crave that with people and have been recognizing why that is. Not only does it boost our dopamine but, for me, it also keeps me motivated to do it with intention.
You may recall Anissa from a previous newsletter—she has a flower farm, Bloomin’ Ivy, in addition to being a weight-loss coach. I was delighted to see her again at the Ashland City Farmers Market:
(This section is where I’ll be featuring good news, tips, and bits of wisdom from readers—so please reply to this email and share some with me! It can be anything, big or small. Whatever you’re feeling good about.)
Keeping on the Sunny Side
You know my interest in the connections between positive thinking and healthy living. This article highlights some of those—and, interestingly, many of them are exactly what I focus on in my other weekly newsletter, Speak for the Heart.
More Good News
I didn’t know—or had forgotten—many of these!
And for some fun 4th of July activity ideas:
I particularly like the bucket-list item of visiting a US National Park! 😃
And what a fascinating discovery:
Pawsitive Vibes
Positive Vibes member Dylan (whom you saw in this newsletter 2 weeks ago) was kind enough to share this photo of his sweet dog, Lulu, who is a Maltese mix:
