Save the Date!

For the Southern Festival of Books!

Hello again!

Autumn officially begins this Saturday, and I hope you are looking forward to the season ahead!

As you make your fall plans, please save the date for the Southern Festival of Books! I have been invited to take part in the Festival, and have been assigned to be part of a panel discussion with 2 other authors on Sunday, October 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Tennessee State Library (West).

(The schedule may be subject to change, so be sure to check the program on the Southern Festival of Books website closer to time: https://sofestofbooks.org/index.php )

The Festival takes place on Saturday, October 21, and Sunday, October 22, and this year will be held at the Bicentennial Mall in Nashville, TN, with indoor sessions at the Tennessee State Museum (near the Nashville Farmers Market) and Tennessee State Library. Exact room locations will be available once the online program is released, and will also be in the printed program that will be available onsite at the Festival.

After the panel discussion ends at 3:00 p.m., all the authors involved will be signing books at the “signing tent,” which I believe will be located on the Mall.

So, if you have a copy of Walk through Fire that you’d like me to sign, or if you purchased a signed copy from Reading Rock Books or Parnassus Books that hasn’t been personalized by me yet, please bring it by! Also, more copies of Walk through Fire will be for sale in the Parnassus Books tent at the Festival itself, as well as at the signing tent afterward.

Being invited as a featured author at the Southern Festival of Books is a dream come true for me, since I have been attending the Festival since I was a teenager!! 😀

The Nashville Chapter of the Women’s National Book Association (WNBA), of which I am a member and which will also have a tent open at the Festival, hosted a preview event with Parnassus Books recently to highlight some of the books and authors that will be part of this year’s festival. It was pretty neat to see Walk through Fire as part of the display!

Display tables at Parnassus Books, showcasing books in this year’s lineup for the Southern Festival of Books.

Hope to see you all there!

‘Til next time,

Yasmine

Let Me Hear from You!

I love hearing from readers, so if you’d like to be in touch, please just reply to this email.

My question for you this month: What are you reading now?

As for myself, I am usually reading 2 or 3 books at any given time—usually a couple of nonfiction and one of fiction or creative writing. Right now, I’m about to finish The Power of Patience by M.J. Ryan, and am also reading All Creatures Great and Small by Dr. James Herriot.

Such a good book—I am probably going to read it again!

Update on My Next Book

As I’ve mentioned before, my next book will be a work of fiction, a novel titled The View from the Cliffs. It is a literary romance (clean), infused with medical drama.

I’m still working on revisions (I go over and over a manuscript, working on pacing, wording, and really bringing the characters to life), but I want to go ahead and share with you a top-level, very brief blurb from the sales copy I’m working on for this book—and let me just say: condensing an entire novel into several lines of cover description is hard! So here are the results of my efforts so far:

The View from the Cliffs: A Novel.

Three physicians. Three continents. Two decades. One love story.

In the sweeping pages of this captivating literary romance, prepare to be drawn into a world where friendship, desire, and destiny converge.

Meet Gabriel O’Brien, a meticulous Irish neurologist who falls hard for the brilliant, career-focused cardiologist and Nashville native, Ranya Abbasi. There’s just one problem: she’s the girlfriend of Gabriel’s best friend, Rasheed Haddad, a handsome, charismatic heart surgeon from Ramallah.

How can Gabriel reconcile his love for Ranya with his loyalty to his best friend Rasheed? And how will Ranya find balance among her career ambitions, the pull of her Palestinian heritage, and her growing attraction to Gabriel?

Follow their epic journey in this international saga that extends from Nashville, Tennessee, in the heart of the American South, to the breathtaking beauty of Ireland, to the rich culture of the Middle East and back again, in a narrative that transcends borders and cultures. The View from the Cliffs is a poignant exploration of love, identity, and the ultimate redemption.

This is a story of love in all its forms, but it is even more than that: it’s a journey through histories marked by strife, a quest for meaning, and a testament to the enduring power of love and friendship. Gabriel, Ranya, and Rasheed seek a narrative different from the tumultuous stereotypes that have been handed down to them for generations, and in their hearts, they find the strength to transcend the shadows of the past.

Discover a story that will touch your soul and linger in your heart long after the final page is turned.
