Preserving Your Family Mementos

And the 2026 calendars are here!

“Find the good and praise it.”

—Alex Haley

Hello again! Happy Halloween! 😀

There’s a lot going on at Positive Vibes this holiday season, beginning with—drum roll, please . . . the 2026 calendars!!! See the video below, and more details in the “What I’m Feeling Good About” section, where you’ll also find a coupon code for Positive Vibes subscribers only! Also, be sure to check out the “For Your Playlist” section for a chance to win a free calendar.

I’m also excited to share that the “Positive Vibes: On the Sunny Side” podcast is bringing you more great episodes this season, beginning with the one I’ve highlighted below (see the “From the Podcast” section), in which actor, archivist, and author Brian Wilson tells you the best ways to preserve your family photos and historical documents. Brian has a lot of wisdom and experience to share, and he’s also had some incredible encounters as both a screen actor and an archivist! It’s an episode you won’t want to miss!

In November, one of my podcast guests will be David Frei, co-host of the National Dog Show, which airs Thanksgiving Day on NBC & Peacock, so be sure to subscribe to the podcast feed in order not to miss it! That will be one of my “Pawsitive Vibes” podcast episodes—which, as you know, are some of my favorites!

What You’re Feeling Good About

The inaugural Waverly, TN Possadillo Festival was a great success, with crowds coming from all over—and the legend of the Possadillo has even made it to Scotland! You’ll recall Positive Vibes subscriber Patti Damesworth talking about the legend of the Possadillo (“The South’s Finest Kept Secret”), and the good cause behind the festival, in Episode 2 of the Positive Vibes podcast. Here are some pictures Patti shared:

And Larry Zetterlind, train spotter and Positive Vibes subscriber, shared this:

“[My friend] Steve and I traveled to Bryan over a two-day weekend in September. Perfect weather and 101 trains in 48 hours. Today I’m in St. Paul, Minnesota . . . For fun I drove to Bryan, Ohio, and rode the Lake Shore Limited to Chicago, then the Empire Builder to St. Paul, so riding instead of watching trains this week. Was fun.”

Larry’s view from the train: “Fields in Indiana in the golden hour after sunrise.”

(This section is where I’ll be featuring good news, tips, and bits of wisdom from readers—so please reply to this email and share some with me! It can be anything, big or small. Whatever you’re feeling good about.)

To Your Health

Taking care of your health is one of the most positive things you can do, so here are a few tips I’ve vetted:

More Good News

This is an amazing, unforgettable story:

Legendary ballerina Misty Copeland leaves triumphant:

I’m always interested in how advances in human medicine can be applied to veterinary medicine:

And speaking of ethology and animal welfare, I want to take a moment to remember the extraordinary primate ethologist and anthropologist, Jane Goodall, who was (and still is) one of my heroes. She passed away in her sleep on the first day of October, at the age of 91. Another remarkable life well lived:

Pawsitive Vibes

You’ve seen pics of my Field Golden Retriever, Ike, many times here—well, his breeder, Fred Ramsey, shared this photo of Ike’s sister, Ruby, with her many awards for nose work/scent work (and these were just the ones she earned in a single weekend!).

Funny Vibes
